FORAHALE-400 INHALER
Product Range: Inspicare Respiratory Care Composition: Budesonide (400 mcg) + Formoterol Fumarate (6 mcg) Format: Metered Dose Inhaler (MDI) | 120 Metered Doses
Product Overview
FORAHALE-400 is a high-strength ICS-LABA (Inhaled Corticosteroid + Long-Acting Beta-Agonist) combination therapy. It is specifically formulated for patients who require intensive management of Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). By combining a potent anti-inflammatory agent with a fast-acting bronchodilator, FORAHALE-400 provides comprehensive 24-hour airway protection.
The Science of Dual Action
- Budesonide (400 mcg): A powerful corticosteroid that targets the root cause of respiratory distress—inflammation. It reduces airway swelling and mucus production, significantly lowering the risk of asthma attacks.
- Formoterol Fumarate (6 mcg): A unique LABA that is distinguished by its rapid onset of action (working within 1–3 minutes) while providing sustained bronchodilation for up to 12 hours.
Key Benefits & Uses:
- High-Strength Maintenance: The 400 mcg Budesonide component is ideal for patients whose symptoms remain uncontrolled on lower-dose inhalers.
- Rapid Relief & Long-Term Control: Unlike many other maintenance inhalers, the Formoterol component starts working almost immediately to open constricted airways.
- Enhanced Lung Function: Regular use helps decrease “air trapping” in the lungs, making it easier for patients to breathe during physical activity.
- Reliable Delivery: The metered-dose system ensures that each of the 120 puffs delivers the exact clinical dose required for therapeutic effect.
Standard Dosage Guidelines:
The dosage of Forahale-400 is highly individualized. It must be used regularly (daily) to be effective, even on days when you feel no symptoms.
| Patient Group | Recommended Dosage | Frequency |
| Adults (18+ yrs) | 1 inhalation (puff or capsule) | Twice daily (Morning & Evening) |
| Adolescents (12–17 yrs) | 1 inhalation | Twice daily |
| Children (under 12 yrs) | Not recommended | High-strength; use lower doses (100/200). |
- Maintenance & Reliever Therapy: In some cases, your doctor may advise you to take 1 additional puff as a “reliever” if symptoms flare up, but the total daily puffs should generally not exceed 8 inhalations.
- COPD Patients: The standard dose for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease is usually 2 inhalations twice daily, but because Forahale-400 is high-strength, 1 inhalation twice daily is the more common starting point.
How to Use?
- Shake: Shake the MDI canister well for 5 seconds before use. Prime it if it is new or hasn’t been used for 7+ days by releasing two test sprays.
- Exhale: Breathe out fully, away from the mouthpiece.
- Inhale: Seal your lips around the mouthpiece. Start to breathe in slowly and deeply, then press the canister once.
- Hold: Hold your breath for 10 seconds to ensure the medication reaches the lower airways.
- Cleanse: Always rinse your mouth with water and spit it out after use to maintain oral hygiene and prevent throat irritation.
- 12-Hour Gap: Try to keep your doses exactly 12 hours apart to ensure 24-hour protection for your airways.
Safety Information & Precautions
- Not for Sudden Attacks: Forahale-400 is a maintenance inhaler. While the Formoterol component works quickly, you should still carry a dedicated “rescue” inhaler (like Salbutamol) for sudden, severe breathlessness.
- Adherence: This medication must be used daily, even if the patient feels well, to prevent the recurrence of symptoms.
- Storage: Store in a cool place (below 30°C). Do not freeze. Keep away from heat or open flames. Keep away from reach of children.
- Prescription Only: This is a Schedule H drug. Dosage should be strictly monitored by a Registered Medical Practitioner.
- Steroid Strength: 400 mcg is a potent dose of Budesonide. Do not increase your dose without consulting your doctor, as excessive use can lead to systemic steroid side effects.
- Potassium Monitoring: Formoterol can occasionally cause low potassium levels. If you experience muscle cramps or a racing heart, inform your physician.
Notice: Take any medicine only on advise of a registered medical practitioner only.
