Forahale-200 (Budesonide 200mcg + Formoterol 6mcg Metered Dose Inhalers (120 Doses MDI))

Description

FORAHALE-200 Inhaler

Product Range: Inspicare Respiratory Care

Composition: Budesonide (200 mcg) + Formoterol Fumarate (6 mcg)

Format: Metered Dose Inhaler (MDI) | 120 Metered Doses

Product Overview

FORAHALE-200 is an optimized maintenance inhaler designed for the regular treatment of Asthma and COPD. It offers a balanced strength of Budesonide (200 mcg), making it an ideal choice for patients who require combination therapy but do not need the higher steroid load of the 400 mcg variant (Forahale-400). It is often used as a foundational maintenance therapy to keep airways open and inflammation under control.

The Science of Dual Action

  • Budesonide (200 mcg): A clinically proven corticosteroid that controls underlying inflammation in the bronchial tubes. At this dosage, it provides effective long-term control with a favourable safety profile.
  • Formoterol Fumarate (6 mcg): A rapid-acting, long-lasting bronchodilator. It begins relaxing airway muscles within 1–3 minutes of inhalation and sustains this effect for 12 hours.

Key Benefits & Uses:

  • Balanced Control: Provides the perfect middle-ground dosage for patients transitioning from lower doses or stepping down from higher-strength inhalers (like Forahale-400) once symptoms are stabilized.
  • Rapid Symptom Relief: The fast onset of Formoterol helps patients feel a noticeable difference in breathing almost immediately after use.
  • Reduces Flare-Ups: Regular use significantly lowers the frequency of asthma exacerbations and the need for emergency hospitalization.
  • Flexible Management: Suitable for a wide range of patient profiles, from moderate asthma to stable COPD management.

Standard Dosage Guidelines:

The exact dosage is determined by your doctor based on the severity of your condition. Below are the typical guidelines for maintenance therapy:

Patient Group Recommended Dosage Frequency
Adults (18+ yrs) 1 to 2 inhalations Twice daily (Morning & Evening)
Children (6–17 yrs) 1 inhalation Twice daily
Children (Under 6 yrs) Not recommended Safety and efficacy are not established.
  • Maximum Dose: Generally, do not exceed 4 inhalations twice daily (8 puffs total per day) unless specifically instructed by a specialist.
  • Maintenance vs. Reliever: While some patients are prescribed this for “Maintenance and Reliever Therapy” (using it for both daily control and sudden symptoms), this must only be done under strict medical supervision.

How to Use?

  1. Preparation: Remove the mouthpiece cover and shake the inhaler vigorously.
  2. Exhale: Breathe out gently and fully away from the device.
  3. Inhale: Place the mouthpiece in the mouth, seal lips tightly, and press the canister while breathing in slowly and deeply.
  4. Hold: Hold breath for 10 seconds to allow the drug to settle in the lungs.
  5. Rinse: Important: Rinse mouth with water and spit it out after use to prevent oral fungal infections (thrush).

Safety Information & Precautions

  • Not a Replacement for Rescue Inhalers: Unless your doctor has specifically prescribed this as a combined maintenance/reliever therapy, Forahale-200 is for prevention. You must still carry a fast-acting rescue inhaler (like Salbutamol) for sudden, acute attacks.
  • Consistency: Forahale-200 is a controller medication. It must be used every day, even when you feel fine, to maintain lung function. It may take 1 to 2 weeks of regular use to feel the full benefit. Do not stop taking it even if you feel better, as stopping can cause a “rebound” flare-up.
  • Storage: Store below 30°C in a dry place. Protect from direct sunlight. Keep away from the reach of children.
  • Prescription Only: This is a Schedule H drug. To be sold by retail on the prescription of a Registered Medical Practitioner only.
  • Heart Precautions: Formoterol is a stimulant that can cause palpitations or a fast heartbeat. If you have pre-existing heart disease or high blood pressure, use this only under close monitoring.
  • Bone Health: Long-term use of inhaled corticosteroids can occasionally affect bone density; your doctor may monitor this if you are on the medication for several years.

Notice: Take any medicine only on advise of a registered medical practitioner only.
