FLUTINORM-S-250 is a powerful combination inhaler designed for the long-term management and maintenance of asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). It combines a potent inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) with a long-acting beta-agonist (LABA) to provide a comprehensive approach to lung health.

The Science of Dual Action

• Fluticasone Propionate (250 mcg): A potent anti-inflammatory agent that reduces swelling and irritation in the airways, preventing asthma attacks before they start.
• Salmeterol Xinafoate (25 mcg): A long-acting bronchodilator that relaxes the muscles in the airways to keep them open for up to 12 hours, ensuring easier breathing throughout the day and night.

How to Use?

1. Prepare: Remove the cap and shake the inhaler vigorously.

3. Position: Place the mouthpiece in your mouth and close your lips firmly around it.
4. Inhale & Press: Start to breathe in slowly and deeply; simultaneously, press the top of the canister once.
5. Hold: Remove the inhaler and hold your breath for 10 seconds (or as long as comfortable) to allow the medicine to reach deep into the lungs.
6. Rinse: Always rinse your mouth with water after use to prevent oral dryness or throat irritation.

Standard Dosage Guidelines:

This medication is intended for maintenance and must be used regularly (usually twice daily) to be effective, even if you feel well.

Essential Usage Instructions:

To ensure the medicine reaches your lungs and to prevent side effects, follow these steps:

• The 12-Hour Rule: Take your puffs approximately 12 hours apart (e.g., 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM) to maintain 24-hour airway protection.
• Prime the Inhaler: If the inhaler is new or hasn’t been used for 7+ days, shake it well and release 2–4 test sprays into the air away from your face.
• Rinse and Spit: Crucial Step. Always rinse your mouth with water and spit it out after every use. This prevents oral thrush (a fungal infection) and hoarseness caused by the steroid.
• Wait Between Puffs: If prescribed two puffs, wait about 30–60 seconds between them and shake the inhaler again before the second puff.

Safety Information & Precautions

• Not a Rescue Inhaler: FLUTINORM-S-250 is for maintenance and should not be used to treat a sudden, acute asthma attack.
• Prescription Only: This is a Schedule H drug. Use strictly as per the dosage frequency prescribed by your pulmonologist or physician.
• Potassium Levels: Long-acting bronchodilators can sometimes lower blood potassium levels. Your doctor may monitor this if you are on other medications like diuretics.
• Storage: Store below 30°C. Protect from frost and direct sunlight. Keep away from the reach of children.
